Most people who write to us want to know two things before anything else: what it will cost, and how long it will take. Here are the ranges from the jobs we have shipped, the jobs behind each one, and what moves a price within its range. The same figures are on the home page.
Every build is a fixed price for an agreed scope. We agree on what gets built, quote one price for it, and quote anything outside it separately.
What a website with an admin costs
A website with an admin costs $500 to $4,000.
That is a site the owner edits without a developer, with a contact or quote form that reaches them. It can also take bookings, take payments, or let customers sign in when the job needs it. TCL Auto Detail is one: a mobile detailer's site whose job is to price the work plainly and turn a search into a quote request. Stunt Dudes is another, with shows, a tour schedule, a media gallery, and a booking form the team edits themselves. Mediation & People Solutions gives a mediation practice and a consulting practice equal weight, and its contact form asks for what a conflicts check needs. No More Fatherless handles grant intake for a nonprofit: families apply with no account, the team reviews and awards from one place, and approved families send receipts through a private link.
What a web app or platform costs
A web app or platform costs $4,000 to $40,000.
The price is higher because there is more underneath: accounts, payments or applications, an admin that runs the business, and the jobs that run behind it. Advantage Sports runs a youth flag football league: registration, the payment ledger, team formation, schedules, standings, and messages to families.
How long it takes
A website with an admin takes 1 to 3 weeks. A web app or platform takes 2 to 4 months.
The clock starts after the written plan, when we both know what gets built and in what order. Jobs usually slow down while waiting on content, photos, logins to the accounts the site will run on, and decisions only the owner can make.
What it costs to keep running
Keeping it running is a monthly retainer of $50 to $150, starting at launch.
That covers hosting on infrastructure you own, with the cloud bill included, plus fixes and small changes after launch. Hosting itself is usually the small part. This site runs on AWS for under $10 a month, most of it the fixed Route 53 charge. Off Vercel, Onto AWS has the line items. A platform with a database, email, and payments costs more to host than a marketing site, so its retainer is quoted higher, and the written plan says what yours will be before the build starts.
What changes the price
The things that move a job up or down within its range:
- Who signs in. A site only the owner edits is simpler than one where families, applicants, or customers have their own accounts.
- Money. Taking payments, keeping a ledger, or issuing refunds adds work and testing.
- What it connects to. Email, texts, payment processors, or another system's data each add a piece that has to keep working.
- What already exists. Replacing a tool people use every day means moving their data and not breaking their week.
- Content. A site whose words and photos are ready goes faster than one where we write or gather them.
How to get a number for your job
Tell us what you need built or fixed on the contact sheet, and what done would look like. You get a reply from a person, usually the same day, and a straight yes, no, or not yet. If there is something to build, the next step is a call or a coffee, then a written plan that says what gets built, in what order, on what it runs, what it costs, and what it costs to keep running.
